VDRL Antigen production unit is one of the earliest establishments in this Institute which initiated Cardiolipin Antigen production for Serological test of syphilis with the help of “WHO & UNICEF”. The major compound of V.D.R.L. Antigen was started in 1954. The antigen produced by this institute was found to be completely satisfactory in the Serum Institute, Copenhagen. The antigen was released for marketing in 1955. The VDRL antigen production unit was merged with the office of the Serologist & Chemical Examiner from 1st April 1960. To ensure the quality necessary tests like Phosphorous estimation, Iodine estimation and Nitrogen estimation have been introduced.
